You can reach the "Field Station La Gamba" most rapidly by aircraft (San José - Golfito). Buses leave several times a day from San José to Golfito, Rio Claro or to the village Villa Briceño (to the locals and drivers known as “km 37” - "Kilometro Treinta y siete").
From these places you can go on by taxi or private cars to the station which is accessible via a seasonally independent road which turns off from the Interamericana the whole year through.
